Please read the following information regarding our salon re-opening guidelines and guest protocols before booking a service.

Firstly, we would like to express how happy we are to finally welcome you back to the salon. Like many thousands of businesses in our sector, we were ordered to close by the Province which has been an extremely testing and financially difficult time. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel and we are pleased to announce that we will resume service at the salon commencing 11 am on the 21st May 2020.
As we reopen there are going to be some changes to the way we operate as a business. Please make sure you review the following adjustments, protocols, and requirements BEFORE booking an appointment with a stylist. Covid-19 is still very much active within our community and as a business, we are doing everything we can within reason to ensure the safety of our staff and guests alike.

Pricing & Services

The financial implications of closing a business after 7 months of being established are exceedingly difficult. When combining the costs of maintaining a business without any revenue with the new requirements for PPE (personal protective equipment), additional cleaning after each appointment, the cost of additional medical grade disinfectant and protocols, reduced salon and staff hours and longer appointment times to compensate for social distancing rules, we have had to apply a small increase on some services.
We hope you understand, this small increase is solely due to a substantial increase in our operating costs in relation to WorkSafe and provincial health guidelines as well as operating without revenue for 2.5 months.

Our new haircut fees are as follows:

Junior Men’s Stylist: $35.00
Men’s Stylist: $45.00
Senior Men’s Stylist: $55.00 – if you previously paid $50.00 prior to shut down this will be the new price.
Creative Director: $65.00 – if you previously paid $60.00 prior to shut down this will be the new price.

If you purchased a gift certificate your haircut will be honored at the price you paid at the time of purchase.
Please note we will not be accepting any cash payments at this time.
We encourage you to bring your own mask. A face mask will be available to purchase for a nominal fee subject to market availability and pricing.

All other salon pricing will remain the same. Complimentary haircuts because of a competition win are suspended until further notice. These prices will remain unchanged for 12 months.

Due to the requirement that masks must always be worn, the following services are suspended until further notice: beard trims, steam facials, steam facial with shaves. (Subject to change pending provincial mandate)
We will not be accepting walk-in guests until further notice

In order for us to maintain optimum health and safety the following requirements and changes are in effect. Please take a moment to review them before booking or arriving for your appointment.

Guests

• If you are showing symptoms of Covid -19 please do not attend your appointment
• If you are unable to make your appointment for reason other than health, please provide 24 hours notice – no shows without notice will require pre-payment before arrival
• You may arrive for your appointment no sooner than 5 minutes prior to its commencement
• Please come alone except for service animals for the visually impaired or if you require special assistance, in which case please notify the salon first so we can prepare if needed
• Always wear a face covering such as a mask, masks straps must loop behind the ears, not your head
• Make use of the complimentary hand sanitizer upon arrival
• Where you can, please maintain adequate distancing from other guests
• Please do not bring a pet to your appointment
• We kindly ask that you vacate the premises once payment is complete and pre-book your next appointment straight away (this aids us in managing our workflow in advance during the pandemic)
• Please ask for assistance when purchasing retail products
• Whilst appreciated, please refrain offering handshakes or hugs

What we are doing

• Our waiting area will remain open but is limited to 4 guests. Seating will be spaced 6 feet or more apart. All armchairs have now been hygiene cleaned and scotch guarded.
• The main staff and guest contact areas of the salon will be sanitized thoroughly 6 times a day and again once the last guests have vacated the premises (a copy of our cleaning protocol is available upon request at info@thomlife.com)
• Appointment times are now 1 hour in duration to allow for complete chair sanitization between guests. All staff are on a 4 day a week schedule to reduce overcrowding in the team.
• All staff will wear a face covering
• All tools, work stations, and chairs will be sanitized between guest appointments using Barbicide, alcohol baths, clippercide and medical-grade surface cleaner
• We have enabled a plexiglass screen at reception
• We have installed a door entry system for added security and walk-in prevention (please see the section below on how to enter the salon with the new security system)
• We have removed cash payments entirely
• Retail has been reduced to display items only. To purchase a product please ask for assistance
• We have removed reading material from reception until further notice

The new door entry system

The main entrance to the salon will now have a digital lock. To open the door you will need to do the following:

1. Tap the lock, the screen will light up
2. Enter the code supplied in your appointment confirmation email
3. The door will unlock for 10 seconds and automatically re-lock itself
4. Your code will only work during the salon opening times
5. To exit, turn the lock clockwise
The door can also be unlocked from reception. For those without an appointment, please call when you arrive at the salon. Admittance to the salon will depend on the volume of guests within the salon.
