We don’t victimise the future by placing the past on a pedestal, and instead aim to grow, adapt and evolve.
thom. is an original, premium men’s salon barbershop in downtown Vancouver that focuses on hair and grooming in a way that is currently untouched. By combining contemporary hairdressing techniques with classic barbering, we provide services that are both technical and aesthetically pleasing. We believe that it is important to give a thankful nod to heritage and tradition while adapting ideas in an innovative way that is constantly pushing for the future of the growing men’s hair industry.
The name ‘Thom.’ pays homage to its founder, Thom Robins and his vision to bring a salon experience to every man, cultivated by over a decade in men’s hair and grooming both at home and abroad for some of the world’s best men’s hairdressing and lifestyle brands. It is important for us to create a space that is inclusive and elevated, which we like to define as ‘Modern Masculinity’. This term makes up the core of our brand culture and is also apparent in our services, messaging, and space. At Thom, we strive to go beyond hair by creating strong relationships with our guests and build a sense of community by hosting events, talks, and cultural wellness.
Modern Masculinity
At thom. we feel strongly about the fact that “masculinity” comes in many forms – there is no black and white, but rather a colorful spectrum of the male identity which is why it is fundamental for us to create with a sense of inclusiveness. For example, hair that is structured yet soft and transitional, communication that speaks to all, and an aesthetic/design that is a balanced and fluid mix of the rough and smooth, colorful and neutral. We strongly believe that this ideology is a positive reflection of modern progressive society, and aim to uphold this with our brand mantra of “a salon experience for every man”
Minimalism
Contrary to what most men’s hair services and providers offer, thom. aims to remove the clutter and noise. We feel that by identifying the core components of the task at hand (whether it be hair, decor, or messaging) and reducing it to its most important elements, we will, in turn, produce something of higher quality. Less has always been the new more; form and function rule.
