We discuss how often a man should get a haircut. THOM STUDIO VANCOUVER
How Often Should Men Get a Haircut? There isn’t one answer. That’s annoying, but it’s true.
How often a man should get a haircut depends on the haircut, the hair type, the desired finish, and how much softness you’re comfortable with as it grows out.
A sharp fade might need attention every two to three weeks if you like it looking fresh all the time. A classic scissor cut often sits nicely for four to six weeks. Longer men’s hair can sometimes go much longer, especially if the shape has been built properly.
The mistake is waiting until the haircut has completely fallen apart.
At that point, the appointment becomes correction rather than maintenance. You’re not refining the shape anymore. You’re trying to get it back. That usually means more work, more change, and less consistency over time.
Maintenance is easier than rescue.
Most men don’t need to constantly change their hair. They need a rhythm. Once the right shape is found, appointments become about small adjustments. Removing weight. Cleaning the edges. Rebalancing the shape before it gets away from you.
That rhythm is different for everyone.
At THOM STUDIO in Vancouver, part of the consultation is figuring out what actually suits the person’s life. Some clients want to come in every three weeks. Others are better at five or six. Some want sharpness. Others want something that grows out softer and requires less attention.
Neither is wrong.
The right haircut schedule is the one that keeps the hair feeling intentional without making it feel like another job.
A good rule: book before you hate it.
If you wait until the haircut annoys you every morning, you’ve probably gone too long.
