In this edition of our Guest Spotlight, we grabbed a quick cup of Joe with salon regular Brian Grosse, part tinkerer, part traveler and full-time Civil Aviation Operations Manager.

Brian is one of our most regular guests here at thom. As a die-hard supporter of the brand and our salon partner Adam Petipas, he was also featured in our inaugural salon collection where he stole the show, sporting textured waves and clad head-to-toe in Gucci tailoring. We had a quick Q&A to see what makes this jack of all trades tick and talked masculinity.

"...I’ve fulfilled my every ambition of world travel, gotten sick along the way, and fallen in love once or twice."

— Brian Gross

What’s your coffee order?

A well-pulled double shot of espresso, two fingers of the hottest water, one finger of coldest milk.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Brian Grosse. I work in coastal civil aviation as an airline operations manager. Primarily based in Vancouver Harbour, but also managing select Vancouver Island operations for my company. It fills me with pride every day to have the privilege to lead an extremely diverse, and inspiring team of over 60 employees. You might say simply that I work from home with my family.

Who is your thom. stylist and why?

I’ve been following Adam Petipas around for many years now, and there are many reasons why. Adam is the type of barber that you will never, ever find yourself in the chair wondering.. “Is he going to get that spot?”. This is because he is beyond precise. Methodical yet innovative, he continually strives for total perfection in his work.

I’m a jack of all trades and interests I guess… I’m told that I can be a tough nut to crack.

What is an interesting fact about yourself?

I’m a jack of all trades and interests I guess… I’m told that I can be a tough nut to crack. One day I might be ripping around on my motorcycle, and the next day on the couch with a Grisham novel and my funky cats. I’ve fulfilled my every ambition of world travel, gotten sick along the way, and fallen in love once or twice. Need an old car fixed up? Advice on feeding your marine invertebrates, or your indoor lemon tree? Come fly with me, neighbor.

What does masculinity mean to you?

I see masculinity as I see life itself. Present with us in full-spectrum color, endless variety, and ever-evolving before our eyes.
